London, 5th and 6th April 2025. Families of loved ones killed at the hands of the state in the United Kingdom gathered for the inaugural the People’s Tribunal on Police Killings. 

The Tribunal asserted that " over the last 55 years, more than 3000 pple have been killed by the police in the UK, but in only 3 cases have officers been convicted of these deaths at criminal trials" ( ‘Obstinate memory: the People’s Tribunal on Police Killings’ by Ken Fero , Jodie Bradshaw and Samantha Patterson).

On the 17th and 18th October 2026, bereaved families and collectives across France,  Belgium, Spain, Germany, Switzerland and the UK will gather in London, including Truth and Justice Committee for Lamine Dieng, and Cases Rebelles.

The judicial system failed these bereaved families. The People’s Tribunal On Police Killings (PTPK) are embracing a radical approach by unifying families internationally to seek justice.

Samantha Patterson co-founded the People’s Tribunal On Police Killings.  The PTPK is supported by Migrant Media, 4WardEver, and includes many families in the United Families and Friends Campaign.

In this episode, Samantha Patterson takes the time to discuss some of the areas the PTPK identified as key issues in their struggle, she talks about the need for self-empowerment for bereaved families, and the outcomes of the previous hearing.
