A Lidl Coffee and a Lidl chat at the Coffee Box.

I’ve lived in Ballyvolane for over thirty years. I shop in Lidl and I am boring.

A few months ago, a little coffee box opened in the Lidl car park.

I went over and spoke to some of the regulars.

The Coffee Box is attracting customers of all ages and all demographics. Young and not-so-young. School children and politicians. Musicians and pensioners.

Over the last few weeks, I recorded some of the chats I had in the Lidl car park. The topics cover music, housing, local politics, connection, dogs, changing careers, community, sustainability and the secret to a long and happy marriage.

We hear from future hurling stars, parents, young children, pensioners, a local politician and a lot more besides.

I find out what to wear at a ‘Spiderman’ birthday and get introduced to the music of Casiopea.

The Coffee Box is not known as a venue but, we have some spoken word and singing from local performers, Anna and Rosie.

Thanks everyone for taking the time to chat with me.

Music by Casiopea, Bruno Mars and John Spillane.
